St Mark's COMMUNITY GARDEN

Join us this Autumn at St Mark's Community Garden

Each Monday volunteers are getting stuck into some exciting new developments around the garden!

We’re continuing to dig out new paths to make it easier for wheelchair users and visitors with limited mobility the next section we’re doing is around our raised beds. This will make access to the growing food space accessible for everyone.

As we move into the autumn it is a great time to finish the pond area. With enough volunteers, we’ll start laying gravel beds in the pond, ready for planting. This way we can remove the soil from the plant roots. This will allow the plants to draw nutrients from the water instead, creating a natural filtration.

We’ll also begin preparing the ground for native hedging, which will:

🌸 Support local wildlife and pollinators

🌳 Improve biodiversity

🦔 Create natural shelter and food for birds, insects, and small mammals

🌿 Enhance the beauty and resilience of our garden

We’re also thrilled to be welcoming visitors from RHS Grow Wild, whose generous support has helped make this project possible!

We wrap up each Monday Morning with with some well earned refreshments and time to chat and enjoy the space together.

Whether you’re a keen gardener, a nature lover, or simply looking for a way to meet new people and make a difference, Come and be part of something that brings joy, health, and community spirit. Let’s dig in, grow together, and create a space that benefits people and planet alike.
